For the month of April, it was quite eventful! +$21,302 to my snow ball~
Played a little bit of Doge coin, a crypto currency. I got lucky, and made some money...
Notice that, Value investing can be used to invest in anything. As long as it contains value, and the value changes over time.
My wealth grew almost 14% this month, all in the comfort of my home.
Actually I wasn't home at all, for the month of April... I was on vacation... a very special vacation.
This is the weirdest vacation so far...
I went to Buffalo NY, to see the Niagara falls.
(that's so typical... what so special about it?)
The only difference is I get there by foot...
Yes, you read it correctly... I walked from NYC to Buffalo, a 360 miles distance... on foot...
It took me 15 days to get to my destination, and a lot of pain and suffering...
At this point, you may ask: why would you do such a stupid thing?
One of the most important thing of being a value investor is, what Warren Buffett like to say:
“Be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful.”
When I first started my trip, everyone around me tells me how stupid it is.
They tell me hundreds horrifying things that might happen to me if I do this...
Bears, psychos, and cannibals' are among those interesting ways I might die...
I ignored everyone's well intended "Advices" and just did it anyway...
When I actually achieved my goal, most of them are very surprised.
It was the most difficult thing I have faced in my life... but I do not regret it at all...
Because, I have learned something very important from my trip.
It was raining that morning, and I was walking on the side of the road...
As I walk, I noticed a small grain of sand was picked up by my right shoe, and was dropped inside my left shoe...
The grain of sand was so small, it was a little bit uncomfortable at first...
To take off my shoes(in the rain) and get rid of one grain of sand is just really unreasonable at the time...
So I just moved on, ignoring the small discomfort.
30 minutes later...
The small discomfort starting to feel a little numb. (I still ignored it)
1 hour went by, and I no longer feel the presence of the sand, so I kept on going.
Few more hours went by, and it is now lunch time. I looked around for a place to get lunch.
As I walk, I started to feel my thumb nails are scratching something, and creating a discomfort within my shoes...
When I finally took off my shoes, and try to see what happen to my foot. The discomfort was from my thumb nail, which is bleeding now...
And the culprit was this tiny grain of sand...
The lesson is:
A small grain of sand in your shoes, you can tolerate it for a short distance. If you walk far, the small sand will make you bleed...
This applies to investing as well...
A small risk, let's say a 5% risk you take when you invest.
It is quite safe when you only invest for a month or a week.
If your investment durations becomes years, your 5% risk will make you bleed.
If you take 5% risk each year, and you invest for 20 years, you have a 100% risk.
The same can be applied to margins or leverage...
Using margins or leverage isn't always dangerous, but if you use it long enough, you will eventually bleed...
For your reference only~
